King’s is to release its first recording of 2017 – a live recording of Bach’s magnificent St John Passion. Featuring the Choir of King’s College Cambridge with conductor Stephen Cleobury and the Academy of Ancient Music, this new live release is a thrilling performance of Bach’s dramatic work. Performed in concert as part of the Easter at King’s festival in 2016, it is the first time that King’s has released a live concert recording, and it follows the successes of our previous Evensong Live releases.

The recording also features an all-star line-up of soloists, including King’s alumnus James Gilchrist, and Cardiff Singer of the World prize winner Neal Davies. Completing this renowned cast of soloists are Sophie Bevan, Iestyn Davies, Ed Lyon and Roderick Williams.

Available to pre-order on a surround-sound 2-disc CD set, the recording can also be downloaded in mp3 and studio master formats, along with the digital booklet from 7 April.
