100 Years of Nine Lessons & Carols Album coverThe most recent album on the King’s College label, 100 Years of Nine Lessons & Carols, has enjoyed unprecedented success for the King’s label, becoming the second-best-selling all-classical album in the UK during 2018. The album, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Christmas Eve service ‘A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols’, has now been #1 in the UK specialist classical charts for nine consecutive weeks after debuting at number one at release. It is the longest run at the top of this chart for any album since 2011.

The celebratory recording has done well elsewhere too, breaking into the Classic FM chart top ten (at #7), making the Radio NZ (New Zealand) chart at #2, and also reaching #2 in the US Billboard Traditional Classical chart.

Other releases on the King’s label have had recent successes too, with Richard Gowers’ recent Messiaen: La Nativité du Seigneur being selected by Gramophone Magazine as an ‘Editor’s Pick’:

“This is deeply impressive organ playing, with King’s College’s sound expertly captured”
